The professional association of OWASP Foundation is a not-for-profit 501c3 charitable organization not associated with any commercial product or service. OWASP is an open source project dedicated to finding and fighting the causes of insecure software to be successful we need your support. OWASP individuals, supporting educational and commercial organization form an application security community that works together to create articles, methodologies, documentation, tools, and technologies (“OWASP Materials”). - Membership Powerpoint / Membership Flyer. Categories of Membership & Supporters

Individual Supporters	Why Become a Supporting Member? As a member of the internet community you agree with the ethics and principals of the OWASP Foundation. You want to underscore your awareness of software security. You you want to continue to increase your knowledge and expand your skills when attending OWASP conferences at a discount. You want to expand your personal network of global contacts? OWASP Linked'In Group 40% of your annual membership fee directly supports project and efforts of the local chapter. You get a @OWASP.ORG email address if you desire to collaborate with peers globally, do not have to use your company/personal email address if you do not want to. submit a request You will have (1) vote for annual elections on issues that shape the direction of the professional community.	$50/USD 12 month term
Organization Supporters	Organizations that wish to support OWASP can receive a 100% tax deductible donation. These funds are used to enable the OWASP Foundation mission supporting Projects enabling & Grants and receiving discounts at OWASP Conferences for employees to attend and if exhibiting. (1) rotating banner ad on the front page of www.owasp.org for a month at no additional cost. (A $2500 value) Be recognized as a supporter by posting your company logo on the OWASP website, newsletters, conference events, media (Image size for logos: gif, jpg or png with a size of 150px X 45px at 72dpi or 55px X 80px at 72dpi) Be listed as a sponsor in the newsletter that goes to over 20,000 individuals around the world on owasp mailing lists and linked'in group. Have a collective voice via the Global Industry Committee and collaborate on standards. Have (1) supporting member vote in elections and on issues that shape the direction of the community. Optional - Annual local sponsorship of a local chapter by allocating 40% of your annual donation to your choice of up to two locations by percentage. Optional - Host a local OWASP event/meeting to raise security awareness at your offices	$5000/USD 12 month term OR with your purchase order, quarterly payments also accepted.
Local Chapter Supporter	Organizations that are not yet interested in becoming a full Organizational Supporter but who have a desire to direct their support in a more regional manner may prefer to become a Chapter Supporter. Benefits Be recognized as a supporter by posting your company logo on the local OWASP chapter website (Image size for logos: gif, jpg or png with a size of 150px X 45px at 72dpi or 55px X 80px at 72dpi) Have (1) supporting member vote in elections and on issues that shape the direction of the community.	Suggested levels (these levels may vary chapter to chapter as well as the benefits) $500usd - Silver Chapter Supporter $1000usd - Gold Chapter Supporter $2000usd - Platinum Chapter Supporter (maximum) Check with your local Chapter Leader to learn more about specific price levels for Chapter Supporters The funds donated are divided with 90% directly supporting the OWASP local chapter and 10% to the OWASP Foundation.
Single Meeting Supporter	Organizations that wish to support OWASP local chapter with a 100% tax deductible donation to enable OWASP Foundation to continue the mission. Be recognized as a local supporter by posting your company logo on the OWASP website (Image size for logos: gif, jpg or png with a size of 150px X 45px at 72dpi or 55px X 80px at 72dpi) Have a table at local chapter meeting enables promotion of your products or service etc.	$ set by local chapter Contact the local chapter that you want to work with. All payments to local chapters can be made via the donation button that is on each local chapter page we do this to centralize payments using Paypal and for bookkeeping purposes. Academic Supporters	Benefits Raise awareness of the University worldwide NO COST, Only Commitment to secure software education Be recognized as a supporter by posting your university logo on the OWASP website (Image size for logos: gif, jpg or png with a size of 150px X 45px at 72dpi) OWASP and the University can jointly publicize season of code events which provide funding for students or faculty to perform security based research OWASP and the University can work together with local chapter and OWASP Foundation to host security seminars or provide introductory training sessions for students on OWASP tools, documentation and security skills. University is allowed to designate one individual to cast a vote in OWASP elections and collaborate with the Global Education Committee Note: This is intended for the University as a whole to become involved with OWASP. This does not imply individual or organizational membership for the University, students or faculty. However, all students and faculty are encouraged to explore the benefits of becoming an individual member.	No Charge - Contact Your Local Chapter Leader to get involved. Bartered Requirements Provide meeting space for the local chapter. Be open to discuss including OWASP education material in the curriculum to students. Provide feedback to help improve OWASP education material. encourage students to apply for OWASP Grants and work on projects for OWASP Foundation that will help them build real world industry experience.

Note: OWASP individual membership fees, OWASP conferences tickets, OWASP conference sponsorships, and OWASP banner ads are not considered 100% tax deductible donations due to the benefits the paying organization receives see United States IRS Guideline 557 Organization supporters & direct donations to OWASP however are fully tax deductible given OWASP's recognized U.S. non-profit status.

OWASP Membership Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

My organization is not in a position to contribute monetarily, but we would like to contribute technical services. Is there a way for us to be involved?

Technology Supporter designations are available for organizations who make valuable in-kind donations of technology support services. Please contact your local Chapter Leader if you would like to become a Chapter Supporter in this manner or contact the Global Membership Committee if you would like to become an Organizational Supporter.

I’m an active (chapter leader, project leader, committee member). Does that mean I’m an OWASP Honorary Member and get to vote?

No. During the 2009 election, OWASP Honorary Memberships were granted to all historical chapter leaders, project leaders and committee members, but those honorary memberships have expired. We ask that you please become an OWASP Individual Member Join Here to support OWASP. Alternately, you may also request a new OWASP Honorary Membership by submitting the following form CLICK HERE with a description of your recent activities in support of OWASP. We thank you for your ongoing support of OWASP and we require this for being able to track these requests from individuals around the world.

My organization supports OWASP, but the $5,000 USD as a donation per year to become a Global Supporter is too expensive. What options are available?

A great way to participate in OWASP is to support your local chapter. Please look into becoming a Chapter Supporter at the level where you feel comfortable. This will allow you to support OWASP’s mission and help promote a vibrant application security community in your area. Hopefully in the future you will be in a position to become a global Organizational Supporter.

Why Should I Become An OWASP Member or Organization Supporter

OWASP provides documentation, tools, methodologies, standards, articles, and message forums (“OWASP Materials”) as a service to Internet users worldwide to help users and developers understand more about application security. OWASP makes these materials available to end users to help them acquire, build, test, and operate secure software. In addition to the benefits you receive as described above, your membership helps to support the growth of OWASP and the development of new and improved OWASP Materials. Because we are an open, non-commercial entity, we can take on projects that commercial entities driven by profit motives could not. Everyone benefits from these projects. Your support will help OWASP continue to find and fight the causes of insecure software.

How Are Funds Used?

OWASP is a 501c3 not-for-profit foundation, and all funds go directly to support OWASP projects, grants, chapters, and infrastructure. Who Must Become an OWASP Member?

Memberships are not required to use OWASP materials under each project's open source license. Also, anyone can participate in or contribute to an OWASP project without becoming a member. Your membership fees are what make the various OWASP projects possible.

How Can I Become An OWASP Member?

To become an OWASP Member, an individual or organization must: Agree to the terms and conditions of the OWASP Membership Agreement. Pay the appropriate membership fee, depending on what type of OWASP Membership is indicated. (See top of page for both) Keep OWASP updated with accurate contact and business profile information. The term of the agreement is one year from the date of execution. We appreciate your interest in becoming an OWASP Member. What is OWASP’s licensing model?

Open Source Licenses: Each OWASP project is licensed under one of the approved open source licenses, such as the GPL, LGPL, GFDL, and BSD. Under these licenses, you may be required to contribute changes back to the open source community at large, according to the terms of the applicable open source license.
